Ryan and I sat in traffic for THREE HOURS today; a trip that usually only takes 30 minutes.  Seriously, there's less than two inches of snow on the ground and everyone puts their car into a ditch.  Southern Virginians can NOT drive in the snow.  So frustrating.  We eventually gave up trying to get home and stopped at a new bar that just opened up.  We weren't expecting much, but we DEFINITELY weren't expecting the sweetest bartenders ever, or amazing Hawaiian food at under $10 a plate.  We're definitely adding this place in to our rotation.

I love this man, and I love the way our noses are all squished up against each other.

Yeah, we're not the most photogenic couple.  Ryan thought it was weird I wanted him to take a picture of us.  While we were sitting at the bar.  Whatever, it's not like anyone was looking at us.

Ryan took this picture at Christmas.  My nephew has absolutely hated my guts for the last two years, but this last trip home I was suddenly his "best fwend," and he spent the entire time snuggled in my lap, which was especially satisfying, as he is NOT a snuggly kid at all.

And yes, he is grabbing my boob and giving Ryan a "What are you gonna do about it, buddy?" look.

So it's a little late (oh crap, is it Saturday already?) but here's my sad, lonely little instagram photo for the week.

I swear I'll get it together someday. Now if you'll excuse me, there's a dog with a toy that is seeking my attention.

It's been a pretty quiet week here.  I'm in the middle of a ten-day work streak, and other than that Ryan and I have been staying home and trying to get back into the swing of things.

Which pretty much means I've been doing a lot of vacuuming and laundry.

Ah, the life of a semi-grownup.

Apparently the trend this week on IG is blurry photos.  I have been drinking an inordinate amount of coffee lately (I bought Ryan a Keurig for Christmas and the novelty has yet to wear off), so I'll chalk it up to the caffeine shakes.

1.  A very grainy shot of the Virginia coastline.  Taken from the window of the dubious little propeller plane we flew in on.

2.  Ryan bought me a bedside lamp for Christmas!  Still excited about it.

3.  Currently reading Sacré Bleu! by Christopher Moore.  He is hands down my favorite author and this is his latest.  It really makes me appreciate the fact I took an art history class in college.

Speaking of good reads, anyone have any recommendations?  I'm about overdue for a Barnes & Noble trip.

InstaLife Lately

 

Sorry for the long absence, friends.  Life's been busy with weekday date nights, girls' nights out, boat parades, rescuing giant Amazonian beetles from the restaurant, growing flowers, birthdays, organizing, yoga, and wedding stuff.

It's been a crazy, fulfilling month.  Which means I have zero dollars to my name right now.  Yeah, life is good. :)

Yesterday the Stink-Eared Wonder and I went on a walk.  Bear's really chunked up since I got him neutered in February (and he's seven so he's also just starting to get old), and the vet told me to cut back his food to one cup twice daily and to take him on more walks.  After stuffing him full of antibiotics and steroids and then squirting a bunch of stuff in his ears (which he was not happy about) I then proceeded to give him the smallest breakfast ever.  Seriously, he looked at his dog bowl and then at me like "What the deuce lady?  Is this it?" 

So I compensated by letting him pee on public structures down at the Lion's Head Bridge.

Yesterday was pretty warm but really cloudy.  It was perfect for getting some "desolate winter by the water" shots without freezing my buns off.  Although I've sort of been slacking in the exercise department so it would have been nice if my buns literally had frozen off.  You know, nice in a really creepy, not-recommended-by-doctors way.

I didn't notice until I blew up this pic on Blogger how awesome the James River Bridge looks in the background.  Makes me want to go back and get a shot of just it.

By no means am I any good at photography, but I was really pleased with the way all of these came out. The colors are just what I wanted.  It's nice when you get something right.  Right?  Right.

Hello, Aslan.  Sorta looks like he's glaring at me out the corner of his eye.  Like he's a guard at Buckingham Palace and I'm an annoying tourist.  Which is pretty valid.

Love love love the colors on this one.  Bummed the background got a little blown-out.  

On one side of the bridge is the James River, on the other is Lake Maury with this satisfyingly huge and twisty tree that everyone likes to sit under. 

Ethical question of the week: Is it wrong to use your dog as a keychain?  Personally, I think it's about time he started pulling his weight around here.

I'm a sucker for sculpture.

Those are spuds.  In my Crock Pot.  Funny how I've had that thing for four years and never used it until now.  I've been using it at least once a week lately.  Why did no one tell me it was so convenient!?

P.S. - Anyone have any good Crock Pot recipes?  According to hubs I'm only allowed to make stew once a week.
